Electric Atmosphere at Levi's Stadium as Colombia Fans Roar
Juan Cardona, a Colombian native living in Florida, traveled specifically for the game. "This feels like home," he declared amidst a chorus of "Colombia, Colombia!" from fellow supporters. When discussing the power of football, Cardona explained, "For international matches, you fight for your country. It's a deep sense of national pride."
Grace Nanez, another Colombian fan from Walnut Creek, echoed the sentiment, confidently stating, "I am Colombian, and we are going to win!"
Brazil, a football powerhouse, also had its dedicated supporters. Marwan Omar from Stockton, alongside his son, donned their colors proudly. "We gotta support Vinicius, Real Madrid, all those players. So, Brazil it is!" he said. Catalina Romero from Redwood City remained loyal to the Seleção, stating, "I've always supported Brazil, no matter what."
Santa Clara police ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Road closures and traffic controls implemented early on Friday remained in effect. Lieutenant Mike Crescini of the Santa Clara Police Department emphasized, "We want fans to have fun, but also to be respectful, drink responsibly, and stay hydrated. Importantly, if anyone sees anything suspicious, please reach out to us immediately."
One minor challenge for fans driving to the game was the closure of the large green parking lot typically used for San Francisco 49ers games. Due to a simultaneous event at Great America, the lot was unavailable for Levi's Stadium parking.
